Record Drought in California What we can do
Do you make an effort to save our precious resource?
Water levels in our lakes in California are record low. 😲
We can shockingly see how low the water is in any lakes in our area.
Besides, in my area where most houses depend on wells, our wells are dry.
We order water by truck to refill wells. Most residences are depending on water trucks now since their wells are bone dry.
So, what can we do to help our drought situation?
What I have started to do is below:
Recycle clean water
When you wash your veggies and don’t use veggie soup, save the water in the bowl.
Then transfer and save the water in the big bucket.
You can use the water to water plants outside. 🥬🌷
I also started recycling water after washing rice. It’s actually nutritious water that is often used to do dishes and wash faces in Japan.
I’m assuming it is better way to water plants outside.
Surprisingly, I am watering plants more often than before the drought. Saving lots of water. Yes, you have to go back and forth numerous times, but it is a great exercise (and it's free). :)
What I’m doing is a small step, but if everyone tries, it might make a difference.
Also, try washing your car in less often.
If you are a member of a certain car washing place, think twice if you really need to wash your shiny car so soon.
I was quite shocked to see so many clean cars lined up in the car washing line when farmers are affected with this awful drought. 🚙
It is totally a waste of water to wash cars often, even if it is mainly recycled water. There is some water usage there.
We need to make priority on farm land and ranches, where our food sources come from.
Small steps should make a big difference.
